Thiess, a global mining contractor, is hiring a Shovel Operator to join our Production Mining Team in Western Australia. You will operate heavy equipment safely, contribute to ore extraction, and support design parameters while upholding safety standards.

This permanent full-time role offers a 2:1 roster 7D7N from Perth to the Pilbara, with potential shift to 2:2, camp facilities, and a six-month probation bonus of $5,000.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years mining experience as a production excavator operator.
• Equivalent to or specific experience operating Hitachi EX3600 and CAT6060 is essential.
• Experience in loading dump trucks in a mining production environment essential.
• Sound knowledge of ore mark ups and pit configuration.

Responsibilities

• Operating machinery efficiently, safely, and competently to ensure maximum output.
• Complying with Thiess' policies and procedures.
• Responding to instructions from Mining Supervisor.
• Excavating to design boundaries of ore bodies, berms and pit walls.
• Ensuring floor levels are maintained.
• Minimising dilution and achieving design parameters within tolerances.
• Setting and maintain high housekeeping standards.
• Carrying out pre-start checks.

In this role, you will:

• Operating machinery efficiently, safely, and competently to ensure maximum output

About you

• Experience in loading dump trucks in a mining production environment essential
• Sound knowledge and understanding of ore mark ups and pit configuration
• Skills to mine out benches and cutting batters, leaving minimal amount of material for final trim to design of batter angle
• Proven compliance and commitment to health and safety at all times
