Job summary

Thiess is seeking an experienced Leading Hand HD Fitter to join the Gruyere Gold Mine Maintenance Team on a 2:1 roster. You will oversee maintenance on major fleets and ensure safety and quality across open pit operations in a remote WA location.

Candidates must have an Australian Recognised Trade Certificate, a HR licence, and at least 2 years’ experience on open pit excavators. A strong safety ethos and proactive approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (Mobile Plant Trade).
• HR Driver's Licence.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working on open pit excavators.
• Experience in an open pit mining environment.
• Can do attitude toward safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision to the maintenance team with effective time management.
• Plan servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance for heavy mobile mining equipment.
• Ensure adherence to work health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure all required paperwork by tradespeople is completed to a high standard.
• Be proactive to ensure quality work and meet supervisor requests.

Job description

Thiess is seeking experienced Leading hand HD Fitter to join our Gruyere Gold Mine Maintenance Team on a 2:1 roster. Some of the fleet you can expect to work on include CAT 6060 Shovel, Sandvik DR410i, DI650i and DP 1500 / 1600 drills, Komatsu PC1250 and Liebherr 9600/9400/9200 excavators.

The Gold Fields Gruyere Gold Project is located within the Yamarna greenstone belt, approximately 200 kilometres east of Laverton in Western Australia. We are privileged to work on the lands of the Yilka people and operate in close consultation with their community.

The Theiss mining operation at Gruyere delivers load and haul, drill and blast, crushing and screening, as well as LV/HV maintenance.

Key responsibilities:

• Possess a positive leadership style, with exceptional time-management skills and the ability to pivot around priorities while providing guidance, assistance, and supervision to the maintenance team.
• Manage performance, planning servicing, repair and preventative maintenance heavy mobile mining equipment.
• Ensure work health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to
• Ensure all required paperwork is completed to a high standard by tradespeople
• Must be proactive in the workplace to ensure quality work is being completed
• Must comply with reasonable request from the supervisor

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Australian RecognisedTrade Certificate (Mobile Plant Trade).
• HR Drivers Licence.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working on open pit excavators
• Strong problem-solving ability including diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across various fleets and machinery.
• Experience in an open pit mining environment.
• Highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Must present with a “Can Do” attitude to work and safety.
