Job summary

PYBAR Mining Services is recruiting for an Underground Shift Supervisor on the Hillgrove Project, Armidale, NSW. The project operates on a 2:2 roster and accepts DIDO or FIFO hires from across Australia.

You will lead the underground development crew, ensure compliance with NSW mining legislation, and collaborate with management and technical teams to meet production targets while prioritising safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a Shift Supervisor or similar role.
• NSW Underground Supervisors Practising Certificate or WA Underground Supervisor's Practising Certificate.
• 4+ years’ experience in Underground Hardrock mining.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities.
• Current First Aid Certificate (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and leadership to the underground team.
• Monitor and supervise underground mining activities.
• Promote safety behaviours and foster a culture of accountability and safety first.
• Use digital tools (e.g., INX) to record and monitor tasks.
• Communicate effectively with PYBAR team members and stakeholders.
• Organise day-to-day scheduling of the crew.
• Inspect and implement mining and safety standards underground.

Job description

The services we provide range from mine development, production, cable bolting and drilling, raise boring, shotcreting and haulage fleet.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Join PYBAR's new Hillgrove Project as an Underground Shift Supervisor and play a key role in delivering safe, productive underground operations.

The project is based in Armidale, NSW, on a 2:2 roster, this opportunity is open to candidates from multiple hire locations across Australia, both DIDO and FIFO.

Reporting to site leadership, you will lead your underground development crew, ensuring compliance to NSW mining legislation, and work closely with management and technical teams to achieve operational targets while promoting safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

The Hillgrove Project is a four-year contract, with various stages of expansion in the future.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide day to day supervision and leadership to the underground team
• Monitor and supervise underground mining activities
• Promote positive safety behaviours and help build a culture of accountability, ownership and safety first thinking across the site.
• Use digital tools (e.g. INX) to record and monitor tasks
• Communicate effectively with PYBAR team members and relevant stakeholders
• Be responsible for organising the day to day scheduling of your crew
• Inspecting and implementing mining and safety standards underground

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Shift Supervisor or similar position (Essential)
• NSW Underground Supervisors Practicing Certificate, or, WA Underground Supervisor's Practicing Certificate (Essential)
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Underground Hardrock mining (Essential)
• Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities.
• Current First Aid Certificate (Advantageous)
