Job summary

Heritage Minerals Pty is seeking a Reagent Operator to manage safe handling, dosing and monitoring of reagents in the processing plant. You will support stable operation, meet metallurgical targets and ensure environmental compliance while upholding safety standards.

Key duties include measuring and dosing reagents, monitoring tank levels and flow, inspecting storage and dosing equipment, and assisting in reagent stock management and shift handovers. A strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience handling and dosing reagents in a metalliferous mineral processing environment.
• Certificate III or IV in Process Plant Operations or related qualification.
• Experience with cyanide, gold processing reagents or metallurgical process support.
• Strong safety, environmental compliance understanding.
• Forklift/Telehandler/DG/Working at Heights/Confined Space certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measure, prepare, and dose reagents according to targets and procedures.
• Monitor reagent consumption, tank levels and flow rate.
• Inspect and maintain reagent storage tanks and dosing equipment.
• Assist operators and control room personnel to maintain stable process conditions.
• Participate in reagent stock management and inventory tracking.
• Maintain records of reagent additions, adjustments and incidents.
• Contribute to development and review of SOPs and safe work procedures.

Job description

Reporting to the Crew Supervisor Processing the Reagent Operator is responsible for the safe handling, storage, dosing and monitoring of reagents used in the processing plant. This role ensures that all chemical additions support stable plant operation, metallurgical targets and environmental compliance, while maintaining strict safety standards and process discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Health and Environment

• Handle, store and dose process reagents safely and in accordance with Heritage Minerals’ HSE systems, site procedures and statutory requirements
• Follow chemical handling protocols for cyanide, caustic, acids, flocculants and other process chemicals
• Report, contain and respond to spills, leaks, or abnormal safety checks in reagent storage and dosing areas
• Report, contain and respond to spills, leaks or abnormal chemical conditions
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and ensure chemical storage and handling areas are compliant with site requirements
• Own and care for the workplace

Reagent Management and Operation s

• Accurately measure, prepare, and dose reagents according to metallurgical targets and operating procedures
• Monitor reagent consumption, tank levels and flow rate to maintain optimal circuit performance
• Inspect and maintain reagent storage tanks, dosing pumps, piping and associated equipment
• Assist operators and control room personnel to maintain stable process conditions in leach, CIL, elution and other circuits.
• Participate in reagent stock management, delivers and inventory tracking

Communication and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of reagent additions, adjustments and incidents
• Communicate operational issues, reagent shortages or dosing deviations to the Control Room Operator or Shift Supervisor
• Participate in effective shift handovers, providing clear information on reagent systems and plant status

Maintenance and Continuous Improvement

• Identify equipment faults and assist maintenance teams with isolations, inspections and repairs
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including reagent usage optimisation and process support trials
• Contribute to the development and review of SOPs, safe work procedures and training materials
• Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• Experience handling and dosing reagents in a metalliferous mineral processing environment
• Strong understanding of chemical hazards, safety protocols and environmental compliance
• Forklift, Telehandler, Dangerous Goods, Working at Heights, Confined Space
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to follow detailed operating instructions and maintain process discipline
• Certificate III or IV in Process Plant Operations or related qualification
• Experience with cyanide, gold processing reagents or metallurgical process support
• Experience in commissioning, ramp-up or optimisation projects
