Job summary

Heritage Minerals Pty in Mount Morgan, Queensland, is seeking a Control Room Operator to monitor, control and optimise processing plant operations from the control room. You will ensure safe, stable and efficient performance, manage alarms, and coordinate start-ups and shutdowns in line with procedures.

Qualifications

Job description

Reporting to the Process Crew Supervisor the Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimising processing plant operations from the control room to ensure safe, stable and efficient plant performance. This role plays a critical part in maintaining throughput, recovery and process stability while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and operating standards.

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Health and Environment

• Operate the processing plant in accordance with Heritage Minerals’ HSE systems, site procedures and statutory requirements.


• Maintain situational awareness of plant conditions and respond promptly to abnormal or emergency situations.


• Ensure alarms, interlocks and safety systems are correctly monitored and actioned


• Communicate safety-critical information to Shift Supervisor and field operators in a timely manner


• Support incident reporting, hazard identification and continuous improvement initiatives.

Control Room Operations

• Monitor and control plant processes via SCADA/DCS systems including crushing, milling, classification, leaching and associated circuits.


• Adjust operating parameters to maintain stable operation and achieve production and metallurgical targets.


• Coordinate start-ups, shutdowns and plant transitions in line with approved operating procedures


• Identify and respond to process deviations, equipment alarms and plant upsets


• Maintain accurate shift logs and control room records

Communication and Coordination

• Maintain clear and effective communication with field operators to coordinate plant activities


• Liaise with the Processing Plant Shift Supervisor regarding plant status, issues and priorities


• Support maintenance activities by coordinating isolations and plant availability


• Participate in effective shift handovers, ensuring continuity of safe and stable operations.

Metallurgical Support

• Work closely with the Shift Metallurgist to implement operating strategies and process changes


• Monitor metallurgical performance indicators such as throughput, grind size, reagent usage and recoveries


• Support metallurgical test work, trials and optimisation initiatives as directed

Housekeeping and Compliance

• Maintain high standards of control room housekeeping and documentation


• Ensure compliance with site procedures, permits and operating instructions


• Participate in audits, inspections and competency assessments as required


• Qualifications, Skills and Experience


• Experience operating a metalliferous mineral processing plant control system


• Demonstrated understanding of processing plant flowsheets and operating principles


• Experience with SCADA/DC systems in a continuous processing environment


• Experience in plant commissioning or ramp-up environments
