Job summary

Capella Sydney is seeking a Shift Engineer to ensure seamless operation of the hotel's infrastructure. You will maintain mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and support energy-efficient initiatives to deliver a safe and comfortable guest experience.

In this role, you will log work, coordinate with other departments, and uphold maintenance programs across the property. Capella Sydney offers a heritage setting, premium spaces, and opportunities to grow within the group.

Qualifications

• Experiences in similar roles.
• Basic computer skills with hands-on experience in room maintenance.
• Ability to work shift work on a rotational roster including weekends and public holidays.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Valid working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains all mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment in good working order throughout the hotel.
• Repairs and maintains pool system, supply lines and ancillary fittings in good working order.
• Ensures the kitchen and associated equipment are working properly and efficiently during the course of duties.
• Checks and records in a log book, including the quality of the machine.
• Carries out all work orders and repairs assigned. Communicate status of completion to ensure a quality guest experience and a defect-free service environment.
• Responsible for proper operation of physical plant and all engineering facilities of the entire property by established policies and procedures, maintenance program and operation schedule.
• Comply strictly with the proper execution of reparation and established maintenance program, procedures and policies.
• Responsible for order and cleanliness of engineering areas throughout the Hotel, ensuring safety rules are adhered to.
• Maintains strong working relationships with other departments to ensure effective communications for operational issues.

Position Summary

As a Shift Engineer, you play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of our hotel’s infrastructure. You will be responsible for the efficient functioning, upkeep, and preventive maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), kitchen, and ancillary systems, as well as ensuring all fittings and fixtures throughout the property are operating at optimal levels.

Your keen eye for detail and proactive approach will be essential in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and high‑performing environment for our guests and colleagues alike. Whether it’s troubleshooting a technical issue, responding to urgent maintenance requests, or implementing energy‑efficient solutions, you will be a critical contributor to the daily operation and long‑term success of the Engineering department.

Role:
