Job summary

Capella Sydney is seeking a Hands-on Handyperson to support the seamless operation of our heritage-listed luxury hotel. You will maintain wooden fixtures, furniture and related fittings across guest rooms, function spaces and public areas, ensuring top-notch quality and safety at all times.

You will repair tables, chairs, mirrors and banquet items, keep logs updated, and collaborate with various departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a historic but contemporary setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel or facilities maintenance preferred.
• Able to read logs and follow established procedures.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain wooden equipment, furniture, and fittings across function rooms, banquet areas, guest rooms and public spaces.
• Repair and refurbish tables, chairs, sofas, mirrors, banquet tables and related items.
• Ensure kitchen and related equipment operate properly during shifts.
• Record maintenance work and quality checks in logbooks.
• Complete work orders and communicate status to ensure seamless guest experience.
• Oversee operation of hotel engineering facilities following policies and schedules.
• Maintain order and cleanliness in engineering areas; enforce safety rules.
• Collaborate with other departments to support operational needs.

Position Summary

As a Handyperson, you play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of our hotel’s infrastructure. You will be responsible for the maintenance of wooden equipment, furniture and related fittings throughout the hotel. The individual will also ensure that all granite, marble, grouting, tiles, cement, concrete walls, floor and ceilings are maintained and repaired as necessary.

Role:

Repairs all wooden equipment, furniture and related fitting throughout all function rooms, banquet stores and banquet office, guest-rooms, public areas within the hotel.

Repairs and makes good tables, chairs, sofas, stools, trolleys, mirrors, round or long banquet tables.

Ensures the kitchen and associated equipment are working properly and efficiently during the course of duties.

Checks and records in a log book, including the quality of the machine.

Carries out all work orders and repairs assigned. Effectively communicate the status of completion to ensure a quality guest experience and a defect-free service environment for both colleagues and guests.

Responsible for proper operation of physical plant and all engineering facilities of the entire property by established policies and procedures, maintenance program and operation schedule.

Comply strictly with the proper execution of reparation and established maintenance program, procedures and policies.

Responsible for order and cleanliness of engineering areas throughout the Hotel. Ensuring that all safety rules and regulations are adhered to.

Maintains strong working relationships with other departments to ensure effective communications for operational issues, and serves as a role model for inter-departmental collaboration and support.
