Job summary

G & R Fabrication is seeking an experienced Sheetmetal Worker to join its fabrication team in South Windsor, NSW 2756. The role involves fabricating and installing sheetmetal products, including air conditioning ductwork, from technical drawings to meet Australian standards.

Salary ranges from AUD 75,000 to 90,000 plus superannuation. This is a full-time permanent position based at the company site with some client-site work in surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques and safe work practices.
• Experience operating folding, bending and cutting machinery.
• Competent use of sheet metal fabrication and installation tools.
• Current driver’s licence and reliable transport to job sites.
• Physically fit and able to work on-site at multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job, material and equipment requirements.
• Select metal stock (galvanised iron, stainless steel, aluminium) and check sizes against specs.
• Mark out metal stock using templates, gauges and reference points.
• Cut metal stock with hand/power shears, plasma cutters, guillotines and drills.
• Shape and form stock into ductwork using folding/bending machines and rollers.
• Fit and assemble components, ductwork and flashings by welding or riveting.

Job Description

Clear Cut Recruitment G & R Fabrication is looking for an experienced Sheetmetal Worker to join its fabrication team in South Windsor NSW 2756. This is a full-time role involving the fabrication and installation of sheetmetal products, including air conditioning ductwork. The successful candidate will work from technical drawings and specifications to produce and install high-quality sheet metal parts and ductwork, ensuring all work meets relevant Australian standards and project requirements.

Benefits This is a full-time position. You will be based in South Windsor, NSW 2756 and work both at the company site and on client sites in the surrounding area as required.

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 + superannuation Task & responsibilities

• Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job, material and equipment requirements.
• Selecting metal stock, such as galvanised iron, stainless steel and aluminium, and checking sizes, gauges and dimensions against specifications.
• Marking out metal stock with reference points and lines, using templates, gauges and other measuring instruments.
• Cutting metal stock using hand and power shears, plasma cutters, guillotines and drills.
• Shaping and forming cut metal stock into products, such as air conditioning ductwork, using folding and bending machines, rollers and presses.
• Fitting and assembling components, ductwork and flashings by welding, riveting and other joining methods.

This includes on-site installation according to plans and safety requirements.

• Smooth rough edges and welded/soldered joints, and grind, file and buff repaired or fabricated areas.
• Removing damaged sheet metal from existing products and performing repairs where required.
• Inspect completed work for accuracy of fit, finish and compliance with specifications and Australian Standards.
• Liaise with site supervisors, installation teams and other trades to coordinate ductwork installation on residential and commercial projects.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe working order and comply with workplace health and safety procedures.

Qualification & experience

• At least one year experience as a Sheetmetal Worker or Fabricator in a similar position is strictly required.
• Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or a similar qualification is desirable but not essential for applicants with sufficient experience (at least 3 years experience as a Sheetmetal Worker or Fabricator is considered sufficient).
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, standards, and safe work practices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Experience operating folding, bending and cutting machinery, and joining metal by welding and riveting.
• Competent use of sheet metal fabrication and installation tools and equipment, with strong attention to detail and quality.
• Current driver’s licence and reliable transport to get to and from job sites.
• Physically fit.
• Strong communication skills and reliability are essential.
• Immediate availability preferred.
