Job summary

G & R Fabrication is seeking an experienced Sheetmetal Worker in South Windsor, NSW 2756 to join its fabrication team. The role covers fabrication and installation of ductwork for HVAC projects, with on-site work at residential and commercial sites.

The successful candidate will read blueprints, select metal stock, cut and form metal, and assemble ductwork using welding, riveting and other joining methods. A minimum of one year experience is required; Certificate III in Engineering is desirable.

Job Description

G & R Fabrication is looking for an experienced Sheetmetal Worker to join its fabrication team in South Windsor NSW 2756. This is a full-time role involving the fabrication and installation of sheetmetal products, including air conditioning ductwork. G & R Fabrication is a sheet metal fabrication business based in South Windsor, in the Hawkesbury region of NSW, specialising in HVAC and industrial air conditioning ductwork.

Established as a company in 2015 and working to the motto “From Concept to Creation,” its team fabricates and installs galvanised, stainless steel and aluminium ductwork for commercial projects ranging from office fit-outs to multistorey buildings, as well as modular duct installations, pre-fabricated framework for fans, and tailored supply-and-install packages for residential and commercial clients. Key Duties:

• Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job, material and equipment requirements.
• Selecting metal stock, such as galvanised iron, stainless steel and aluminium, and checking sizes, gauges and dimensions against specifications.
• Marking out metal stock with reference points and lines, using templates, gauges and other measuring instruments.
• Cutting metal stock using hand and power shears, plasma cutters, guillotines and drills.
• Shaping and forming cut metal stock into products, such as air conditioning ductwork, using folding and bending machines, rollers and presses.
• Fitting and assembling components, ductwork and flashings by welding, riveting and other joining methods.

This includes on-site installation according to plans and safety requirements.

• Smooth rough edges and welded/soldered joints, and grind, file and buff repaired or fabricated areas.
• Removing damaged sheet metal from existing products and performing repairs where required.
• Inspect completed work for accuracy of fit, finish and compliance with specifications and Australian Standards.
• Liaise with site supervisors, installation teams and other trades to coordinate ductwork installation on residential and commercial projects.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe working order and comply with workplace health and safety procedures.

Requirements:

• At least one year experience as a Sheetmetal Worker or Fabricator in a similar position is strictly required.
• Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or a similar qualification is desirable but not essential for applicants with sufficient experience (at least 3 years experience as a Sheetmetal Worker or Fabricator is considered sufficient).
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, standards, and safe work practices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Experience operating folding, bending and cutting machinery, and joining metal by welding and riveting.
• Competent use of sheet metal fabrication and installation tools and equipment, with strong attention to detail and quality.
• Current driver’s licence and reliable transport to get to and from job sites.
• Physically fit.
• Strong communication skills and reliability are essential.
• Immediate availability preferred.

Position Details This is a full-time position. You will be based in South Windsor, NSW 2756 and work both at the company site and on client sites in the surrounding area as required.

Conditions: Full-time Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 + superannuation Suitable Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible visa holders are encouraged to apply.
