Job summary

Metcash is seeking an experienced Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager to partner with the Total Tools Hardware Group and drive a strong SHE culture across a national network of stores, manufacturing sites and offices.

The role focuses on governance, compliance and performance, partnering with operational leaders to deliver meaningful safety outcomes across retail and manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Safety, Health & Environment or a related discipline.
  • Cert IV in WHS essential.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Safety, Health & Environment role.
  • Strong understanding of Australian safety, health and environmental legislation.
  • Experience supporting operational environments such as retail, manufacturing, warehousing or logistics.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • ICAM Investigator, Lead Auditor and Mental Heath First Aid certificates highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with operational leaders to strengthen safety culture and embed safe behaviours across the business.
  • Coach and support leaders in safety leadership, incident management, critical risk reviews and injury management activities.
  • Support the implementation of Metcash's SHE Strategy and SHE Management System across retail and manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct critical risk reviews, control verification activities and support risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Assist with internal and external compliance audits and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor safety performance, injury trends and key indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide trusted advice, coaching and support to leaders and teams across multiple business locations.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and influence positive safety outcomes through collaboration and partnership.
