Job summary

IXOM in Melbourne is seeking an experienced SHE Advisor – Operations to drive major risk programs across ANZ, with a strong focus on Major Hazard Facilities (MHFs) and regulatory submissions.

You will coach operational teams to own their risks, facilitate risk assessments (HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA), and contribute to Safety Cases while engaging with stakeholders to achieve robust risk controls. This is a senior, specialist role within the Group SHE team.

Qualifications

• Experience in SHE, process safety, operational risk or a comparable discipline.
• Strong understanding of complex risk, including low-frequency, high-consequence scenarios.
• Experience facilitating or contributing to recognised risk methodologies (HAZID, HAZOP, Bowtie, LOPA).
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills with the confidence to challenge leaders.
• Sound judgement and prioritisation, knowing when to elevate risks.
• Adaptability with evolving priorities and requirements.
• Experience in Major Hazard Facility (MHF), chemicals or high-risk industries preferred.
• Direct MHF experience is valuable but transferable complex-risk experience is also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and quality-assure complex risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, Bowtie, LOPA).
• Support MHF Safety Cases and regulatory submissions.
• Support critical control management and Management of Change activities relating to SHE and major incident risk.
• Coach site leaders to interpret and apply IXOM’s SHE Management System.
• Support regulatory inspections, audits and responses to findings.
• Lead or support higher-risk incident investigations (Learning Teams, ICAM, Root Cause Analysis).
• Identify gaps and strengthen risk controls with stakeholders.
• Provide specialist support across emerging safety, regulatory and operational risks across ANZ.
