Job summary

Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is seeking a Session Leader at our Marion Donor Centre in South Australia. You’ll provide day-to-day operational leadership, ensuring a safe, high-quality donor experience across a rotating roster.

Reporting to the Donor Centre Manager, you’ll coach and develop your team, translate strategy into clear actions, and drive operational excellence while maintaining Lifeblood’s safety and service standards. Flexible shifts include mornings to evenings, seven days a week.

About The Role

We’re seeking a Session Leader to join our Marion Donor Centre. Reporting to the Donor Centre Manager, you’ll provide day-to-day operational leadership and oversight, ensuring the end-to-end donation experience runs smoothly, safely and to a high standard.

In this role, you’ll help drive operational excellence, support and develop your team, and create an exceptional experience for donors. You’ll understand how your team contributes to broader business goals and confidently turn strategy into clear actions that support strong operational and customer outcomes.

You’ll provide direction, encouragement and support to build an effective team culture, while managing challenging situations with respect and empathy.

A Day In The Centre Could See You

• Lead the end-to-end donor journey with a focus on safety, quality and efficiency
• Coach, engage and develop your team to perform at their best
• Support the team to achieve operational, growth and customer experience goals
• Build and maintain a strong, collaborative and positive team culture
• Deliver a safe, seamless and positive experience for donors
• Insert and remove needles to collect donations, with training provided
• Act as the first point of contact for complex donor assessments
• Use data, insights and team feedback to identify improvement opportunities
• Maintain Lifeblood’s high standards for safety and quality

• Experience giving constructive feedback and helping people reach their potential
• Confidence translating business strategy into clear team goals and actions
• A focus on operational excellence, continuous improvement and strong customer outcomes
• Experience in change management and supporting teams through change
• The ability to lead teams to achieve operational and growth targets
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build genuine connections with donors and colleagues
• A collaborative approach and strong sense of teamwork
• Digital and technical confidence, including the ability to use data and insights to guide decisions
• Confidence managing challenging situations and making decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Clinical experience is desirable but not essential
• Flexibility to work 9 shifts per fortnight across a rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, with centre operating hours ranging from 7am to 7:30pm
