Job summary

Mendi Constructions is seeking an experienced Services Supervisor to join our civil construction team in Townsville. This hands-on site leadership role oversees day-to-day civil services works, coordinating crews, plant, subcontractors and suppliers to deliver safely, to spec and on schedule.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of underground services, read construction drawings, and lead the site team to achieve project milestones with a practical, hands-on approach.

Qualifications

• Experience as Services Supervisor or Civil Supervisor/Foreman.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction and underground services.
• Experience supervising operators, labourers and subcontractors.
• Ability to read/interpret civil drawings and specs.
• Leadership and communication skills.
• Hands-on site supervision approach.
• Knowledge of WHS requirements.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and coordinating day-to-day civil services activities across project sites
• Managing operators, labourers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely completion
• Undertaking services scopes of work with minimal supervision
• Coordinating labour, plant, equipment and materials to meet construction needs
• Assigning tasks to skilled personnel
• Working with Project Managers, Engineers and Site Supervisors to meet milestones
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings and service plans
• Ensuring compliance with permits, specs and quality standards
• Conducting daily pre-starts, toolbox talks and site inspections
• Ensuring SWMS, JSEAs and site docs are understood and followed
• Monitoring site safety and initiating controls
• Ensuring plant/equipment meet requirements
• Maintaining site records and documentation
• Promoting safety, quality and environmental standards
• Resolving site issues to keep works progressing safely

Job description

Mendi Constructions is seeking an experienced Services Supervisor to join our civil construction team in Townsville.

This is a hands-on site leadership role responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of civil services works across our projects. You will work closely with the Project Management team and Site Supervisors to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, to specification and in line with project milestones.

The role would suit an experienced civil supervisor or foreman with strong knowledge of underground services and the ability to confidently manage crews, plant, subcontractors and suppliers at field level.

About the Role

• Supervising and coordinating day-to-day civil services activities across project sites
• Managing operators, labourers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure works are completed efficiently
• Undertaking services scopes of work with minimal supervision
• Coordinating labour, plant, equipment and materials to meet construction requirements
• Assigning tasks to suitably skilled and competent personnel
• Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Site Supervisors to achieve project milestones
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications and service plans
• Ensuring works comply with project permits, contract requirements, design specifications and quality standards
• Conducting daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, site inspections and other site meetings as required
• Ensuring relevant SWMS, JSEAs and site documentation are understood and followed by site personnel
• Monitoring site safety, identifying hazards and ensuring appropriate controls are implemented
• Ensuring plant, operators and equipment meet company and project requirements before commencing work
• Maintaining accurate site records, diaries and required project documentation
• Promoting high standards of safety, quality, environmental performance and site housekeeping
• Identifying and resolving site issues to keep works progressing safely and productively

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Services Supervisor, Civil Supervisor or Foreman
• Strong experience in civil construction and underground services
• Experience supervising operators, labourers and subcontractors
• A sound understanding of civil construction sequencing, plant and resource coordination
• The ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and specifications
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• A practical, hands‑on approach to site supervision
• Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
• Good organisational and problem‑solving skills
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of services works
• Construction White Card
• Experience in stormwater, sewer, water and other underground infrastructure works will be highly regarded, along with relevant plant tickets or supervisory qualifications.
