Job summary

Versatile Group is seeking a Services Engineer to join our rapidly growing Fit Out division in Sydney. You will coordinate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire and communications services across education projects and participate from design through to handover on a complex $60M refurbishment and fit-out.

Ideal candidates hold a tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical or Building Services or Construction Management, with experience in building services coordination, drawing

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or Construction Management or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire and communications services across the project.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, consultants and services subcontractors to support successful project delivery.
• Review services drawings, specifications, shop drawings and technical submissions.
• Assist with services design development, coordination and constructability reviews.
• Identify and resolve clashes and interfaces between building services, structure, architecture and existing conditions.
• Coordinate services requirements across existing infrastructure and new works.
• Manage services-related RFIs, technical queries, variations and project documentation.
• Monitor subcontractor progress against the project program and key milestones.
• Assist with the procurement and management of services packages.
• Coordinate site inspections and ensure installations meet design, quality and compliance requirements.
• Support testing, commissioning, defects management and project handover.
• Maintain strong communication with consultants, subcontractors and internal project stakeholders.
• Identify services-related risks early and work collaboratively with the project team to develop practical solutions.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project requirements, WHS standards and quality expectations.

We are seeking a Services Engineer to join the team on a complex $60M fit-out and refurbishment project within the education sector in Sydney, NSW.

Working closely with the project team, consultants and subcontractors, you’ll play an integral role in the coordination and delivery of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire and communications services across existing and new works.

You’ll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from design coordination and procurement through to installation, testing, commissioning and handover.

About You

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
• Previous experience as a Services Engineer, Building Services Engineer, Project Engineer or Services Coordinator
• Experience across commercial fit-out, refurbishment, education or other complex buildingprojects will be highly regarded
• Strong understanding of building services and the coordination of multiple services disciplines
• Ability to read and interpret services drawings, specifications and technical documentation
• Experience working with consultants, subcontractors and project delivery teams
• Understanding of testing, commissioning and handover processes
• Ability to work effectively within complex existing‑building environments where services interfaces, sequencing and stakeholder management are critical
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Confident communicator with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach
