Job summary

FarmTech Group in Wodonga is seeking an experienced Service Team Leader to lead a 5–6 Technician and apprentice team in field service and workshop activities. You will diagnose complex issues, coach staff, set priorities and travel to farms as required, ensuring high-quality workmanship.

• A relevant mechanical trade qualification.

FarmTech Group is a proudly Australian, family-owned business with 50 years in the agricultural equipment industry. Based in Wodonga, we design, manufacture and distribute agricultural machinery to producers across Australia and internationally.

Our Ausmix Feed Mixers are proudly manufactured here in Wodonga and have built a strong reputation with beef and dairy producers across Australia.

As Ausmix continues to grow, so does our service team. We’re looking for an experienced Service Team Leader to lead the team responsible for keeping our machinery performing in the field.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced mechanic who enjoys developing people, solving technical problems and taking ownership of quality workmanship.

Based in our Wodonga workshop, you’ll lead a team of 5-6 Service Technicians and apprentices across field service, repairs and machine refurbishments.

Working closely with our Service Coordinator, you’ll set daily priorities, allocate work and keep jobs moving. You’ll also be the technical go-to for the team — supporting complex diagnostics and repairs, coaching our mechanics and helping establish consistent standards across the workshop and field.

You won’t be sitting behind a desk all day. We want someone who enjoys leading a team but is still comfortable getting involved when their technical expertise is needed - including traveling to farm when the job calls for it.

What You'll Do

Lead the service team day to day — set priorities, allocate work and keep workshop and field jobs moving.

Coach and develop the team — provide hands‑on technical guidance, mentoring and feedback to mechanics and apprentices.

Provide technical leadership — support complex diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs.

Oversee machine refurbishments — coordinate work and ensure machines are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Drive service performance — focusing on quality, productivity, response times and first‑time fixes.

Maintain strong safety and workshop standards — including pre‑starts, risk assessments, daily toolbox talks and safe work practices.

Work collaboratively across the business — particularly with Service Manager, Service Coordinator, Production and Assembly.

Support strong customer outcomes — ensuring service and warranty work is completed, documented and resolved effectively.

What You'll Bring

A relevant mechanical trade qualification, ideally in agricultural machinery, heavy equipment or a related field.

Strong hands‑on diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

Experience leading, supervising or mentoring mechanics or technicians.

The ability to organise work, set priorities and hold a team to high standards.

A practical, solutions‑focused approach and pride in quality workmanship.

Strong communication skills with both customers and your team.

A current driver's licence and willingness to travel to farm when required.
