Job summary

RecruitShop is seeking a proactive Workshop Operator to run the Fraser Coast workshop near Hervey Bay. You will keep technicians productive, manage jobs end-to-end and inform customers throughout the process.

Ideal candidates will be organised, communicative and computer-savvy, with a mechanical mindset and a willingness to learn hydraulic equipment. The role offers a Monday–Friday roster and potential for career progression.

Qualifications

• Strong organisational skills to juggle multiple jobs and keep the workshop flowing.
• Excellent communication with customers, technicians, and suppliers.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset to anticipate issues and resolve them early.
• Good computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software.
• Mechanical mindset or interest in hydraulic/mechanical equipment and willingness to learn.
• Reliable and accountable with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer service - phones, bookings, repair updates and collections.
• Coordinate workshop scheduling - track every job, technician and priority to keep downtime low.
• Build and follow up quotes, applying pricing, freight and labour correctly.
• Source and order parts, manage inventory and coordinate warranty claims.
• Own each job through its full lifecycle from approval to invoicing.
• Coordinate mobile service jobs, breakdowns and route planning for service trucks.
• Support technicians proactively with parts, approvals and pre-emptive calls.
• Follow up quotes and dormant customers; promote mobile service and preventative maintenance.

About The Company

Our client is a professional team of hydraulic and mechanical specialists based in the Fraser Coast, just 15 minutes from Hervey Bay.

About The Opportunity

The primary purpose of this position is to run the day-to-day operation of the workshop, keeping technicians on the tools, jobs flowing, and customers informed.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Managing customer service - phones, bookings, repair updates, and collections
• Coordinating workshop scheduling - tracking every job, technician, and priority to keep techs moving with no downtime
• Building and following up quotes, applying pricing, freight and labour correctly
• Sourcing and ordering parts, managing inventory, and coordinating warranty claims
• Owning each job through its full lifecycle, from approval through to invoicing
• Coordinating mobile service jobs, breakdowns, and route planning across the service trucks
• Supporting technicians proactively - parts, approvals, and customer calls sorted before they're needed
• Following up quotes and dormant customers, and promoting mobile service and preventative maintenance

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability tojuggle multiple jobs
• Excellent communication skills across customers, technicians, and suppliers
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset - someone who sees issues coming and sorts them before they escape
• Good computer skills and the ability to pick up new software quickly
• Mechanically minded, or an interest in hydraulic and mechanical equipment - hydraulic knowledge isn't essential, just a willingness to learn
• Reliability and accountability, with a strong attention to detail
