Job summary

Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure in NSW is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to lead a major Windows Server upgrade and support a diverse technology environment. The role spans on-premises, VMware, AWS and Azure, balancing project delivery with ongoing operations.

You will automate tasks with PowerShell, document procedures, and work with stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable systems that support services across NSW communities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience administering and supporting Windows Server environments in large organisations.
• Experience delivering server upgrades, migrations or infrastructure remediation projects.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS and identity services.
• Practical PowerShell skills and a passion for automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead Windows Server upgrades from discovery and planning through to implementation and handover.
• Support and administer Windows Server environments across on-premises, VMware, AWS and Azure.
• Identify and address platform, security and lifecycle risks before they become bigger issues.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and other tools to improve efficiency.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues while advising stakeholders.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and operational guides.
• Collaborate across project and operational teams to achieve outcomes.
