Job summary

Gympie Regional Council is seeking a hands-on Team Member in the Water and Sewerage Network to maintain essential services. You’ll operate plant and equipment, support drinking water quality programs, and help deliver maintenance with a strong safety focus.

With 3+ years in the water industry, you will work under limited supervision, contribute to continuous improvement, and support community health by ensuring reliable water and sewerage delivery.

Qualifications

• Over three years’ experience in the water industry.
• Competency operating excavators (>0.5 m3 bucket).
• Experience operating a range of plant, vehicles and tools safely.
• Previous sewer jetter and CCTV inspection experience.
• Experience maintaining and replacing water meters.
• Physical fitness for regular manual labouring duties.
• Ability to work under limited supervision and maintain good relations with colleagues/public.
• Basic digital skills (smartphones/tablets) for work allocation/recording.

Responsibilities

• Undertake water supply and sewerage network maintenance safely and to high standard.
• Operate excavators, plant, vehicles and tools per Council procedures.
• Support maintenance of drinking water infrastructure and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain sewerage infrastructure to protect environment and public safety.
• Collect and record operational data (water flow, pressure).
• Undertake water meter maintenance/replacement as required.
• Contribute to delivery of planned maintenance and works programs.
• Identify opportunities to improve work practices and service delivery.
