Job summary

East Gippsland Water is seeking an Operations and Maintenance Team Member to support water and wastewater networks, delivering proactive maintenance and project work. You will help improve network efficiency and meet regulatory standards while supporting community safety and reliability.

The role involves operating treatment plants, coordinating contractors, and maintaining accurate records within a collaborative, safety-focused team culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in operations and maintenance of assets, machinery or specialist tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and quickly learn new skills to become productive in O&M of water and wastewater assets.
• Strong time management with ability to prioritize during peak activity.
• Effective communication with colleagues and management, plus basic report writing/IT skills.
• Willingness to participate in standby activities and respond to after-hours callouts.
• Positive attitude toward personal development, accountability, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Deliver network maintenance programs across water and wastewater assets.
• Operate water treatment and wastewater plants to meet regulatory standards.
• Monitor disinfection and safety processes while ensuring asset reliability.
• Repair water and wastewater infrastructure and coordinate contractor works.
• Operate plant equipment and support capital projects.
• Coordinate contractors and monitor network performance.
• Respond to after-hours callouts and maintain records.
• Communicate across teams and promote safety and compliance.
• Demonstrate EGW values and teamwork in daily duties.
