Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our water team in Australia. The role focuses on drainage and flood modelling across major infrastructure, with relocation to Townsville or related offices.

You will shape design approaches, mentor engineers, and contribute to multidisciplinary projects while delivering high-quality outcomes for clients. You will work with 12D/Civil3D and other hydrological tools, engage with regulators, and support work-winning efforts.

Qualifications

• Proven Drainage/Flood Modelling experience (circa 5–15 years).
• RPEQ or ability to apply for RPEQ preferred.
• Experience in planning hydraulic assessments and design of stormwater/drainage networks.
• Proficient with Civil3D or 12D and hydraulic modelling tools (TUFLOW, URBS, XP‑Rafts).
• Strong communication and mentoring capabilities with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical delivery of drainage designs and stormwater plans for major projects.
• Lead hydrologic/hydraulic analysis using Civil3D, 12D, TUFLOW, and related tools.
• Develop practical solutions to drainage, flooding and water quality challenges.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and contribute to project delivery.
• Mentor engineers and support client engagement and win-work activities.
• Ensure compliance with Australian standards and guidelines.
• Stay current with tools, methods, and regulatory changes.
