Job summary

Rio Tinto is recruiting a Senior Specialist – Water to lead the water team for Pilbara Projects. You will collaborate across Studies & Program, Delivery and Project Services, and engage with Global Procurement to deliver strategic water initiatives.

You will guide contract management, negotiate favorable terms, and resolve complex commercial disputes while developing supplier relationships and mentoring junior staff. Based in Perth with site travel as required.

Qualifications

• A degree in Business and/or Commercial Law (or a related discipline).
• Strategic mindset with experience in leading and implementing construction category strategy.
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience delivering large & complex projects in the Pilbara with exposure to capital projects across the end-to-end contract lifecycle.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with autonomous work and meeting critical milestones.
• Leadership experience (direct or indirect) and coaching will be highly regarded.
• Water infrastructure project experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support building a high performing team and managing the water portfolio.
• Work with Pilbara Projects team and broader business to develop and implement water programme strategies.
• Manage dispute resolution process for complex contractual claims.
• Make sound contractual judgments and propose value-based solutions for the business.
• Lead negotiations and drive positive contractual outcomes while mitigating risks.
• Maximise commercial value through best-practice contract management and effective behaviours.
• Build and manage long-term supplier relationships.
• Provide coaching to specialists on end-to-end procurement activities.
