Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a Supervisor Hydrogeology to lead safe groundwater sampling activities and deliver water management outcomes across Pilbara site operations.

You will develop a field-based team, coach technicians and contractors, ensure hydrogeology standards, and collaborate with operations and planning to optimise performance. The role reports to the Superintendent Operations and includes a permanent, on-site position with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Safety of yourself and others is a priority.
• Experience in hydrogeology or operations field data collection programs.
• Experience developing and influencing field-based technical teams and contractor work programs.
• Strong understanding of hydrogeology principles, water management systems and associated risks.
• Ability to translate technical information into practical operational outcomes.
• Effective stakeholder engagement and communication across functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong safety culture across groundwater field programs.
• Allocate work, prioritise resources and provide day-to-day guidance for field hydro technicians and contractors.
• Coach and develop capability through training, mentoring and field-based support.
• Monitor compliance with hydrogeology standards and water management requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and outcomes.
• Investigate incidents and support corrective actions for groundwater sampling processes.
• Collaborate with operations, planning, environment and technical stakeholders to optimise water management.
• Interface with mine operations and approvals to enable safe access to monitoring locations.
