Job summary

Showtime Consulting is seeking a VMware Subject Matter Expert to lead strategic VMware design and delivery across large-scale government environments in Canberra. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with architecture input to optimise platforms and uplift capabilities.

You will act as the senior VMware authority within the team, advising on design, platform health, and performance, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with security, networking, and project teams to deliver

Qualifications

Extensive design and support of VMware enterprise environments.
Proficient with VMware core stack: vSphere, ESXi, vCenter.
Experience with vSAN, NSX, Aria/vROps, Horizon, or VMware Cloud Foundation.
Proven track record leading VMware infrastructure projects.
Experience in secure government or defence environments.
Strong stakeholder engagement and technical leadership.
Ability to mentor engineers and drive capability uplift.

Responsibilities

Lead design, implementation, optimisation, and lifecycle management activities.
Provide technical leadership for VMware-related projects and infrastructure initiatives.
Support architecture reviews and infrastructure uplift activities.
Lead platform health assessments, scalability reviews, and performance optimisation.
Provide escalation support for complex technical issues.
Work closely with infrastructure, security, networking, and project teams.
Develop and maintain technical standards, documentation, and best practices.
Mentor engineers and contribute to capability uplift across the broader team.
Support infrastructure modernisation and transformation programs.
