Georges River Council is seeking a Senior Traffic & Parking Assessment Officer to lead complex development assessments, shaping transport outcomes across the Georges River area.

Qualifications

• Experience processing development application referrals for varied complexity.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans and specifications.
• Experience in preparing conditions of approval or comments for DA/Planning Proposals.
• Experience in peer reviews and commenting on transport, pedestrian and parking matters.
• Knowledge of intersection analysis and traffic modelling tools.
• Understanding of relevant legislation (EP&A Act 1979, Roads Act 1993, LGA 1993).

Senior Traffic & Parking Assessment Officer

Permanent, Full-Time | $117,866.11 - $136,565.60 + 12% superannuation (pro rata) | Hurstville

Lead the assessment of complex development proposals and influence the transport outcomes that will shape the future of the community.

About the Role

As Senior Traffic & Parking Assessment Officer, you will provide expert technical leadership on traffic, transport and parking matters across a diverse portfolio of development applications. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will play a critical role in ensuring development outcomes support a safe, efficient and sustainable transport network while balancing community expectations, strategic planning objectives and legislative requirements.

This Senior Traffic & Parking assessment Officer role offers the opportunity to assess complex and high-profile developments, providing authoritative advice on traffic generation, transport planning, road network impacts, vehicle access, parking provision and pedestrian connectivity. Your expertise will directly inform development outcomes and contribute to the delivery of a well-planned, accessible and liveable city.

Working closely with planners, engineers, developers and other key stakeholders, you will provide strategic input throughout the assessment process, review technical studies and develop practical, evidence-based solutions to complex transport challenges. You will also contribute to policy development, business improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects that support Council's long-term planning and growth objectives.

As a recognised technical expert, you will undertake peer reviews, provide specialist advice on significant and sensitive applications and, where required, represent Council in Land and Environment Court proceedings. • Permanent, Full-Time - 70 hours per fortnight (Part-Time will be considered, minimum 3 days per week)
• Salary from $117,866.11 - $136,565.60 per annum plus 12% superannuation (pro rata)

The successful candidate will have

• Tertiary degree qualifications in civil/traffic engineering or a related field suitable for entry to Engineers Australia
• Experience processing development application referrals for a broad range of development types of varied complexity
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, architectural plans and specifications
• Experience in preparing conditions of approval, reasons for refusal or comments for consideration on a broad range of development applications
• Experience in undertaking peer review and provide comment on transport, pedestrian and parking traffic matters as they relate to Development Applications and Planning Proposals
• Knowledge or understanding of intersection analysis and traffic modelling tools/software
• Understanding of transport, pedestrian and traffic matters risk management principles and processes
• Understanding of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Roads Act 1993 and Local Government Act 1993 and other relevant legislation
• Experience in design and construction of vehicle crossing, driveways and other works within the public domain
• Current NSW Class C Driver Licence
• Ability to work both individually and in a team environment with minimal supervision
• Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to a range of stakeholders
• Proven organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously, prioritise workload and ensure delivery of deadlines
