Job summary

The City of Gold Coast is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineering Officer to safeguard the transport network and engineer innovative solutions for traffic and safety. You will provide expert advice and lead safety-focused initiatives across the Gold Coast transport system.

You will collaborate with internal teams, residents and government agencies to deliver practical improvements, optimise traffic management, and advance road safety for all users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Civil Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Experience in the traffic and transport sector or related field.
• Unrestricted C Class Driver's Licence (Mandatory).
• White Card (General Construction Induction).
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex traffic engineering problems.
• Conduct autonomous field investigations with a safety-focused approach.
• Liaise with residents, Councillors and State Government agencies.
• Identify solutions to traffic management, road safety, parking, pedestrian and cyclist issues.
• Investigate safety improvements for vulnerable users in active transport areas.
• Develop and install measures to improve safety in rural/high-speed areas.
• Deliver safer roadside environments by upgrading shoulders and signage.
• Develop signage and line marking plans.
• Collaborate on pedestrian crossing improvements across the transport network.
• Review road reconstruction drawings for low-cost, high-return improvements.
• Undertake road safety audits.
