Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Bundaberg QLD is seeking a statutory planning professional to coordinate land-use and transport planning tasks. The role involves assessing development impacts, road access applications and providing high-level advice under the Planning Act 2016 and Transport Infrastructure Act 1994.

You will engage with state and local government agencies, prepare briefs and reports, and represent the department on working groups.

Qualifications

• Possession of tertiary qualifications in Town Planning from a recognised tertiary institution acceptable for corporate membership.
• Criminal history screening will be conducted for the recommended person for this role.
• Demonstrated high level experience in assessment of development applications and applications for access.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise statutory land-use and transport planning tasks for the Adjacent Land Management team.
• Assess development impacts on the transport network under Planning Act 2016 rules and other statutory processes.
• Assess applications for road access and private road works under Transport Infrastructure Act 1994.
• Provide high level advice on relevant Acts and instruments affecting land use and transport planning.
• Review proposed legislation and policy and advise on transport planning implications.
• Maintain liaison with internal staff, government agencies, community and stakeholders.
• Provide timely written and oral advice on land use and town planning matters.
• Represent the department on working groups and government meetings.
• Prepare ministerial correspondence, briefs and reports as required.
