Job summary

Fortescue is seeking a Senior Category Specialist in Technology & AI to shape sourcing strategies for tech products and services. You will drive market analysis, RFx design, negotiations, and contract awards, collaborating with cyber security, legal, risk and stakeholders to ensure secure and cost-effective outcomes.

You will partner with technology leaders to assess requirements, define solutions, and manage supplier performance while leveraging Excel and Power BI for insightful reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in strategic sourcing, category management and contract management for technology products/services.
• Experience leading complex technology sourcing and negotiations with software licensing, SaaS, cloud models.
• Experience building category strategies, market analysis and sourcing plans using spend and supplier data.
• Ability to assess total cost of ownership, pricing structures and contract terms across vendors.
• Understanding of technology supplier risks including cyber security, data handling and IP.
• Experience with AI, data or emerging tech procurement is desirable.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Excel and Power BI proficiency for analytics and reporting.
• Qualification in supply chain, procurement, business, commerce or IT is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain category strategies, market plans and sourcing pipelines for technology and AI spend.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing activities: market engagement, RFx design, evaluation, negotiations, award.
• Shape commercial arrangements for technology products and services including software subscriptions and cloud.
• Assess pricing models, licensing terms, TCO, renewal risk, and opportunities for value.
• Develop negotiation strategies and lead supplier negotiations on price, SLAs, warranties, IP, data use and exit rights.
• Collaborate with cyber security, privacy, legal and risk teams to assess supplier and data risks and define controls.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance including commercial reviews and contract changes.
• Monitor technology and AI market developments to inform sourcing decisions.
