Job summary

IAG Defence & National Security is seeking a Senior Technical Configuration Manager to support the Australian Army's heavy armour vehicle fleet. You will guide configuration management across legacy and new vehicles, act as a technical voice in conferences, and collaborate with engineers and officials to resolve critical issues.

You'll manage configuration control, data packages, audits and sustainment records, while leveraging CMT-L, Teamcenter and ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • Current NV1 security clearance
  • Minimum 5 years' Defence-related experience in data and configuration management, ideally within Land Systems
  • Mechanical trade background
  • Knowledge and experience of Defence Configuration Management frameworks and Land Systems policies, with a clear understanding of vehicle lifecycle sustainment
  • Demonstrated experience using Configuration Management tools such as CMT-L, Teamcenter or ERP systems (JIRA experience highly regarded)
  • Well-developed analytical and documentation skills, including experience managing Technical Data Packages, configuration audits and sustainment records
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary Defence project and sustainment teams
  • Prior experience working on heavy armoured vehicles highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced technical principles and independently solve complex technical problems under general supervision
  • Contribute to technical conferences, working groups and engagements, negotiating with key engineers and officials to resolve critical project issues
  • Provide high-level technical guidance to designers and less-experienced engineers, offering trusted interpretations, advice and direction
  • Manage comprehensive configuration control processes throughout their lifecycle, including baseline establishment, change management and audit support
  • Oversee vehicle technical data packages, configuration records and maintenance history to support sustainment and upgrade activities
  • Utilise Configuration Management Tools (CMT), Asset Maintenance Planning Systems (AMPS) and stock control systems to maintain accurate asset and configuration data
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, sustainment, logistics and operational teams to ensure configuration data validates vehicle readiness
  • Conduct configuration audits and verification activities to ensure compliance with Defence Configuration Management standards
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data accuracy, reporting capabilities and configuration management processes

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Senior Technical Configuration Manager to support the technical configuration of a heavy armour vehicle fleet for the Australian Army. This is a great opportunity for a technically strong configuration management professional to provide advice across both a legacy fleet and new vehicles being introduced into service. You'll operate under general supervision, applying advanced technical principles to solve complex problems independently. You'll be a trusted technical voice – contributing to technical conferences and working groups, negotiating with engineers and officials to resolve critical project issues, and providing high-level guidance to designers and less-experienced engineers.

Salary

$165,000 - $170,000 (incl. Super)
