Job summary

IGT Australia in Sydney seeks a Senior Technical Artist to lead art production for land-based slot games. You will partner with designers and engineers to establish the visual language and look for each game, while overseeing internal art and external production partnerships.

You will bring 5+ years of slot art experience, a strong technical mindset, and hands-on skills in 2D art, animation, shaders and effects. The role supports flexible onsite and work-from-home arrangements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in slot art illustration with evidence of senior-level production ownership
• A strong technical mindset coupled with a refined aesthetic eye and expert understanding of composition, layout, colour, motion, visual hierarchy and final polish
• The ability to move comfortably between creative exploration, detailed production planning, risk assessment and hands-on implementation and technical problem-solving
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to align stakeholders, brief external partners and deliver clear review feedback
• Excellent Illustration skills to create convincing concepts and visual targets, supported by responsible use of approved generative-AI tools where suitable
• Proven ability to scope artwork, write detailed briefs, manage external vendors and assess creative and technical quality
• Strong hands-on experience implementing and optimising 2D art, animation, shaders and effects in production projects
• A strong understanding of asset pipelines, file preparation, runtime constraints and performance trade-offs for real-time games

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Game Designer, Software Engineer and project stakeholders to establish the aesthetic vision, visual language and overall look and feel for each game
• Create concept art, style frames, visualisation artwork and rapid prototypes using your own craft and, where appropriate, approved AI-assisted workflows
• Define the complete art and animation asset list, including dependencies, priorities, effort, delivery stages and technical risks
• Create clear, comprehensive briefs that give third-party art and animation partners the creative direction, technical specifications and acceptance criteria needed to deliver production-ready assets
• Prepare thorough, production-ready briefs for third-party art and animation partners, supported by visual references, style targets, storyboards, animation lists and clear acceptance criteria
• Manage external providers through briefing, milestone reviews and final delivery; provide precise, constructive and actionable feedback until the required creative and technical standard is reached
• Import, configure and implement final art and animation assets in Unity, including sprites and atlases, materials, shaders, animation systems, Spine content, UI elements, render ordering and real-time particle effects
• Work closely with the Software Engineer to develop robust implementation approaches and resolve visual, pipeline and runtime issues
• Optimise content for target hardware through careful management of texture memory, compression, draw calls, overdraw, batching, shader complexity, animation cost and asset loading
• Maintain disciplined digital asset management, source-file hygiene and version-control practices throughout development
