Based in the Perth CBD, the head office enjoys flexibility of 1-2 days working from home, excellent benefits, one of the most positive work cultures among finance teams in Perth, and a good working relationship between finance and the rest of the business.
Literally, your 'New' role, this position has been created to cope with increased demands on the tax function, helping to reduce reliance on external firms and provide additional support for the tax manager when they go on leave and other times of peak activity. Further, this role will take on the period compliances - IAS, BAS, GST, Payroll Tax, Income Tax, to free up the tax manager for more forward looking tax planning and strategic investments. You will be involved with transfer pricing, fixed assets/depreciation, tax effect accounting, and excitingly - advice on commercial matters, capital projects, strategic investments and initiatives. Beyond the role, continuous improvement is everyone in the company's responsibilities, looking for better and more efficient ways of working.
Given the seniority of a senior tax accountant in an operating mining role, you would be expected to have 7-10 years in corporate tax experience, gained through either public practice (top 10 firm) or combination of public practice and corporate experience within Australia with compliance experience dealing with the ATO. Mining experience is a plus, but not essential, your culture fit into the organisation is #1 - you get along well with others, and though a technically capable tax professional, you can break down the complex into layman's terms for everyone else. You are reasonably social, get out from behind your desk, and are passionate about tax. If coming directly from public practice - you'll need to be at manager level and have clients in the mining industry of medium size (>$100m revenue, ideally $1Bn+).
