Job summary

Defence is seeking a senior Systems Engineer to support the establishment of the Integrated Sensor Architecture National Office within the Land Network Integration Centre.

The role will provide technical leadership for the adoption and integration of the US-developed Integrated Sensor Architecture standard across Army tactical networks. The successful candidate will lead systems engineering and Test and Evaluation activities for an ISA sensor prototyping program.

Qualifications

• Senior-level systems engineering experience in complex ICT, C4, C4I or defence environments.
• Demonstrated Test & Evaluation, verification and validation experience.
• Experience developing systems engineering and testing artefacts such as SEMP, TEMP, requirements specifications and test plans.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the SE Management Plan and TEMP.
• Develop requirements, system designs, integration plans and test plans.
• Lead requirements, design and test-readiness reviews.
• Support prototyping, operational test and evaluation, verification and validation activities.
• Exercise delegated design authority for the prototyping activity.
• Provide technical assurance and integration advice for C4I and tactical network systems.
• Establish engineering governance, compliance and assurance processes.
• Identify and manage technical, integration and delivery risks.
• Engage Army, CASG, engineering, architecture and industry stakeholders.
• Prepare technical reports, executive briefings, project status reports and SITREPs.

• Develop requirements, system designs, integration plans and test plans.
  
• Lead requirements, design and test-readiness reviews.
  
• Support prototyping, Operational Test and Evaluation, verification and validation activities.
  
• Exercise delegated design authority for the prototyping activity.

Essential Requirements

• Senior-level systems engineering experience in complex ICT, C4, C4I or defence environments.
  
• Demonstrated Test and Evaluation, verification and validation experience.
  
• Experience developing systems engineering and testing artefacts such as SEMP, TEMP, requirements specifications and test plans.
  
• Relevant bachelor’s or postgraduate engineering qualification.
  
• Suitable experience to exercise delegated design authority.
  
• NV1 clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain NV1.
  
• Ability to work predominantly onsite in Symonston.
  
• Ability to meet applicable ITAR requirements.
  

Highly Desirable

• More than 10 years’ experience designing, integrating and testing military C4I systems, networks or software.
  
• Chartered Engineer or Engineers Australia membership.
  
• Experience with tactical networks, sensor integration, interoperability standards or system-of-systems integration.
  
• Safety-critical systems or software experience.
  
• Defence Capability System, CASG engineering or Land Worthiness experience.
  
• Defence acquisition, sustainment or Army project experience.
  
• Experience advising senior technical and executive stakeholders.
