Job summary

Hamilton Barnes is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join its Modern Workplace and Professional Services team in Australia. The role focuses on delivering complex infrastructure, cloud, endpoint and cybersecurity projects with strong Microsoft expertise.

You will work with Senior Consultants and Project Managers through discovery, design, implementation and transition to BAU, leading technical analysis, architecture, and documentation while mentoring other engineers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in an IT service provider, MSP or professional services environment.
• Experience delivering cloud transformation with a focus on security.
• Proven experience delivering end-to-end Microsoft Intune implementations.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
• Experience with cybersecurity uplift programmes including Essential Eight, Zero Trust, Microsoft Defender, IAM, PAM, vulnerability management, SIEM, compliance and cyber resilience.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, SSO and identity management.
• Strong experience across Windows Server, Active Directory and Windows 11 deployment and configuration.
• Experience across Microsoft 365 services including Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Planner, Groups and related collaboration technologies.
• Experience with endpoint and mobility management platforms including Intune, SCCM, JAMF and other MDM technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Information Protection and Compliance Management.
• Understanding of email security, backup and archive technologies.
• Strong understanding of enterprise IT platforms and leading Tier 1 technology vendors

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the design, implementation and deployment of infrastructure and Modern Workplace projects.
• Provide technical input throughout solution discovery and design activities.
• Contribute to solution architecture, technical designs and project documentation.
• Develop technical change requests, migration strategies, implementation plans and test plans.
• Design and provision proof of concept and pilot environments.
• Support Project Managers with technical scope, risks, dependencies and change management.
• Assist Enterprise and Solutions Architects with technical scopes, estimates and project planning.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex incidents and high-priority issues.
• Develop comprehensive as-built and handover documentation for BAU teams.
• Collaborate with vendors, partners and service providers to deliver technical changes.
• Support cloud transformation and cybersecurity uplift initiatives across client environments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers within the team.
