Job summary

Hyre. in Sydney seeks a hands-on Senior System Engineer to take operational ownership of enterprise on‑prem infrastructure with a major focus on system stability, automation, and security in a regulated payments environment.

You will work with VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft PKI, leveraging PowerShell for automation and ensuring PCI DSS compliance. Located in Macquarie Park, 4–5 days in the office are required.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience managing on-prem enterprise infrastructure in regulated payments.
• Strong automation scripting with PowerShell.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS standards and security best practices.
• Experience with VMware, Windows Server, and Active Directory.

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise on-premises infrastructure for stability, automation and security.
• Maintain PCI DSS compliance and security controls.
• Manage backup/DR solutions and disaster recovery readiness.
• Provide operational support with 4–5 days in office at Macquarie Park.

This is a well-established group of businesses that have been extremely successful in the regulated payments and finance space - the offices are in Macquarie Park, and due to high-security infrastructure 4-5 days in the office are required.

We are looking for a hands-on engineer to take operational ownership of the enterprise on-premises platforms, with a major focus on system stability, automation, and security in a regulated payments environment:

• Virtualisation & Storage: VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, and NSX
• Microsoft & Identity: Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft PKI
• Automation: PowerShell scripting for operational tasks and maintenance
• Security & Network: PCI DSS compliance standards, KEMP load balancing, and enterprise backup/DR
