Job summary

Whizdom is seeking a Senior System Administrator Infrastructure Engineer to manage Linux-based infrastructure across on‑prem and cloud. The role focuses on VMware/VMware Aria design, deployment and lifecycle, along with strong networking including VLANs, DNS, load balancers and firewall rules.

Experience deploying sandboxed environments and developer tooling is essential, as is creating documentation and SOPs for operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Linux systems administration across on‑prem and cloud.
• Deep expertise in VMware and VMware Aria: design, deployment and lifecycle.
• Strong networking knowledge: VLANs, DNS, load balancers and firewall rules.
• Experience deploying sandboxed (isolated) environments.
• Experience deploying developer/analyst tooling: IDEs, package management, access controls.
• Ability to document systems and develop SOPs.
• Knowledge of ASD Essential 8 security practices.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Linux systems administration across on-prem and cloud environments.


• Deep expertise in VMware and VMware Aria, including design, deployment, and lifecycle management.


• Strong networking knowledge, including experience configuring and troubleshooting VLANs, DNS, load balancers, and firewall rules.


• Experience deploying and configuring sandboxed (or isolated) environments.


• Experience deploying developer and analyst tooling, including IDE environments, package management, and access controls.


• Ability to create and maintain system documentation and standard operating procedures.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Ability to learn, deploy and maintain new applications.


• Knowledge in client-server architecture.


• Knowledge in designing and creating software solutions around best practices and scale.


• Knowledge in ASD Essential 8.
