Job summary

Kinexus is seeking a Senior System Administrator for a Defence Prime Business based in Sydney. The role focuses on building and managing internal ICT environments, including physical and virtual servers, cloud platforms, and bespoke defence applications to support critical ADF services.

The successful candidate will hold NV1 (or higher) clearance and bring a strong background in Dell/VMware server environments, Windows and Linux, SharePoint, and multi-platform Atlassian tools.

Qualifications

• NV1 security clearance is required at application
• Bachelor's degree with 10 years IT experience incl. 3 years in a lead role
• Proven technical experience across Dell and VMware-based servers, LAN, cloud platforms, Windows and Linux servers, HA/clustered environments, and applications such as SharePoint
• Experience with the Atlassian toolchain (Jira, Bitbucket/Git, Bamboo, Confluence), Windchill, and database administration (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills; ability to work autonomously

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation, technical support and administration of local infrastructure (network/servers/storage/databases/applications/backups), and assist with scoping and implementing solutions
• Manage vendors, contracts, and internal stakeholder relationships to ensure required service levels are maintained, while owning issues and solutions through to completion
• Ensure infrastructure and application controls follow defence security policies and requirements, producing and reviewing compliance reports on a regular basis
• Manage the budget and track costs of digital technology services, hardware and software, while driving continuous improvement of systems and services
• Manage and support ICT systems upgrade and implementation projects

Senior System Administrator - Defence Prime Business

Kinexus is a specialist defence and national security recruitment agency with over 25 years of working and specialising in the industry. We have partnered with a large defence prime business to search for a Senior System Administrator who can lead the build and management of internal business systems and bespoke defence ICT technologies.

We’re looking for someone who is able to build, configure and manage physical and virtual server environments, manage cloud platform, and manage bespoke defence applications. This digital and physical ICT environment supports the delivery of critical services and products to the ADF, making it critical to maintain high security and uptime of these systems.

In this role you will:

What's needed from you:

• Minimum of NV1 security clearance is required for this role at the point of application, candidates without this cannot be considered.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, ICT, Management Information Systems, or a related field, with 10 years of IT-related experience including at least 3 years in a lead role
• Proven technical experience across Dell and VMware-based servers, LAN infrastructure, cloud platforms, Windows and Linux servers, high availability/clustered environments, and applications such as SharePoint
• Experience with the Atlassian toolchain (Jira, Bitbucket/Git, Bamboo, Confluence), multi-platform software development and build systems, product lifecycle management systems such as Windchill, and database administration (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)
• Strong leadership, project management, and analytical/problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the flexibility to work autonomously across a variety of tasks, priorities
