HorizonOne Recruitment is seeking a hands‑on cyber infrastructure professional to maintain and harden security platforms underpinning government programs in Canberra. You’ll work across Windows and Linux, security tooling, virtualization, containers and automation to support ISM and Essential Eight ML3 hardening.
You’ll manage day‑to‑day health of security platforms, administer tooling for vulnerability scanning, SIEM, endpoint protection and privileged access, and contribute to investigations
Our client operates in a complex, highly secure technology environment supporting important Government, Defence and national security outcomes.
With sophisticated systems, technically challenging programs and an established cyber security function, they offer an environment where security professionals can build deep expertise while working alongside experienced technical and security specialists.
As the organisation continues to strengthen its cyber capability, there are opportunities for NV1 and NV2 cleared professionals to join the team.
This is a hands‑on cyber infrastructure role for someone who enjoys building, hardening and operating the systems that security teams rely on.
Rather than sitting purely in monitoring, policy or compliance, you’ll work across Windows and Linux, security tooling, virtualisation, containers and automation, helping maintain the platforms underpinning a broader cyber security capability.
You’ll gain exposure to a varied technology stack while working to demanding Australian Government security standards, including ISM and Essential Eight Maturity Level 3.
Reporting to a Senior Cyber Security Systems Developer, you’ll take responsibility for the day‑to‑day health, administration and maintenance of security platforms and their underlying infrastructure.
You’ll administer tooling covering vulnerability scanning, SIEM, endpoint protection, application control and privileged access management, while building and hardening the Windows and Linux environments on which these capabilities operate.
The role also provides exposure to security investigations, system authorisation and continuous improvement of a complex cyber environment.
Key responsibilities include:
You’ll be a technically strong systems or cyber professional who enjoys working hands‑on across infrastructure while maintaining a strong security mindset.
You’ll have demonstrated experience administering Windows Server and RHEL/Linux environments, ideally within a security‑focused or highly regulated environment. Experience with one or more security technologies such as Nessus, Elastic, Trellix, Airlock Digital or Teleport, or comparable platforms, would translate well.
Defence experience will be well regarded.
HorizonOne is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce and we encourage applications from people of all cultures, capabilities and backgrounds.
