Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
• 4–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in structural engineering and/or temporary works design.
• Strong knowledge of formwork, falsework, propping and shoring systems.
• Experience carrying out structural analysis and engineering calculations.
• Practical understanding of construction methodology and sequencing.
• Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
• Ability to prepare clear engineering calculations, reports and documentation.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design and review temporary works and structural engineering solutions.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design documentation, drawings and technical reports.
• Develop and review designs for formwork, falsework, propping, shoring and other temporary support systems.
• Carry out structural analysis and assess construction-stage loading and stability.
• Review construction methodologies and sequencing from an engineering perspective.
• Develop practical and buildable engineering solutions for construction projects.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Review drawings, calculations and technical documentation for quality and accuracy.
• Provide technical support to project teams and assist with resolving engineering issues.
• Attend site visits and inspections where required.
• Support and mentor junior engineers/designers and designers where appropriate.
• Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, project requirements and engineering best practice.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in temporary works, formwork and construction-stage engineering to join our growing engineering team.

This role will suit an engineer who enjoys solving practical construction challenges and has experience designing safe, efficient and buildable engineering solutions.

You will work across a range of projects involving Site inspection, temporary works, formwork, falsework, propping and other construction support systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation, good practical understanding of construction, and the ability to take ownership of engineering design and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and review temporary works and structural engineering solutions.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design documentation, drawings and technical reports.
• Develop and review designs for formwork, falsework, propping, shoring and other temporary support systems.
• Carry out structural analysis and assess construction-stage loading and stability.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• A minimum of 4–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in structural engineering and/or temporary works design.
• Strong knowledge of formwork, falsework, propping and shoring systems.
• Experience carrying out structural analysis and engineering calculations.
• A practical understanding of construction methodology and construction sequencing.
• Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
• Ability to prepare clear engineering calculations, reports and documentation.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple engineering tasks.

Highly Regarded Experience

Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following will be highly regarded:

• Other proprietary formwork or temporary works systems
• Structural analysis and engineering design software
• Australian Standards and local construction practices
• Site-based engineering or construction experience

Preferred Qualifications

The following will be highly regarded but are not essential:

• Membership with Engineers Australia.
• CPEng status or actively working towards Chartered status.
• Previous experience in a temporary works, formwork, construction engineering or structural design environment.
• Experience working directly with contractors, builders, suppliers or construction teams.
