Job summary

Global Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Structural Engineering Department in Australia. You will lead diverse structural projects and provide technical leadership across residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure work.

Responsibilities include analysis, design and documentation for concrete, steel, timber and masonry; site inspections; preparing calculations and certification documents; mentoring junior engineers; and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant structural engineering experience, preferably within the Australian engineering industry.
• Strong experience in structural design of concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures.
• Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and the National Construction Code (NCC).
• Experience with structural analysis and design software such as Space Gass, RAPT or similar.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, structural detailing and site conditions.
• Experience preparing structural calculations, drawings, reports and engineering certificates.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work independently.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and develop junior engineering staff.
• Strong client relationship and problem-solving skills.
• White Card will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver a variety of structural engineering projects, including residential, commercial, industrial and alteration/addition projects.
• Undertake structural analysis, design and documentation for concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures.
• Prepare structural calculations, engineering drawings, specifications, reports and certification documentation.
• Conduct structural inspections, condition assessments and site investigations.
• Review existing structures and provide practical engineering solutions for structural defects, alterations and remedial works.
• Coordinate structural designs with architects, builders, civil engineers, surveyors, geotechnical engineers and other consultants.
• Communicate effectively with clients, builders, certifiers, architects and authorities to ensure project requirements are achieved.
• Manage projects from initial client engagement through to design, documentation, construction and certification.
• Provide technical advice and solve complex structural and construction-related problems efficiently.
• Review engineering work and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers.
• Assist management with project planning, fee proposals, client relationships and business development.
• Ensure all engineering work is undertaken in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, NCC requirements and applicable legislation.
