Sydney Water is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership across our asset portfolio, optimizing lifecycle performance and delivering reliable services to communities.

You will work within multidisciplinary teams, contribute to engineering assurance, standards development, governance and innovation initiatives to influence strategic engineering decisions and develop future capability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia or WA.
• 8+ years' structural engineering experience, including 3+ years at senior level.
• Advanced knowledge of Engineering Standards and their development.
• Experience with complex infrastructure design and construction practices.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and reporting capabilities.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams and QA frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and govern structural engineering standards, specifications and technical guidelines.
• Provide SME and risk management advice across operations, maintenance and projects.
• Support engineering assurance, evaluate innovations and assess deviations.
• Represent Sydney Water in industry forums and promote engineering excellence.
• Support continuous improvement of engineering practices, systems and processes.

• Permanent full-time opportunity based in Parramatta with hybrid working arrangements.
• Lead structural engineering excellence across Sydney Water's critical water and wastewater infrastructure assets.
• Provide technical leadership and engineering assurance, influencing standards, innovation and asset lifecycle performance.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to provide technical expertise, advice and engineering leadership across Sydney Water's asset portfolio. You will play a key role in optimising asset lifecycle performance, supporting the delivery of reliable services to our customers and communities.

Working across multidisciplinary teams, you'll contribute to engineering assurance activities, standards development, technical governance and innovation initiatives. This is an opportunity to influence strategic engineering decisions while supporting the development of future engineering capability within the organisation.

What you'll be doing

• Develop, maintain and govern structural engineering standards, specifications and technical guidelines.
• Provide subject matter expertise and risk management advice across operational, maintenance and project activities.
• Support engineering assurance activities, including evaluation of innovations and assessment of technical deviations.
• Represent Sydney Water within industry forums and promote engineering excellence and innovation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering practices, systems and processes.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia or under the Washington Accord.
• At least 8 years' experience with structural engineering, including a minimum of 3 years’ operating at a senior level.
• Advanced knowledge of Engineering Standards and their development
• Strong knowledge of engineering design and construction practices within complex infrastructure environments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, technical communication and report writing capabilities.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams and quality assurance frameworks.
