Job summary

WSP Adelaide is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design, delivery and tender phases on multi-year projects. You will guide structural engineering work, ensuring schedule and budget alignment while maintaining strong client relationships in a national, multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates bring 8–12 years of Australian experience in major commercial building projects, RPEQ qualification, and proficiency with ETABS, RAM Concept, and Microstran.

Qualifications

• Bachelor to Masters’ level degree (Civil/Structural Engineering).
• RPEQ qualified or close to completion.
• 8–12 years of Australian industry experience on medium/large commercial building projects.

Responsibilities

• Project lead work across design, delivery and tender phases for multi-year/packaged work for turnkey projects.
• Ensure timely and quality delivery for project and structural engineering work in alignment with schedules and budgets.
• Handle ongoing communication and relationships with local clients.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, internally and externally.
• Provide sound technical/delivery guidance for the team.
• Mentor, train and develop junior engineers.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and a national team in a multidisciplinary setting.

Key responsibilities

• Project lead work across the design, delivery and tender phases for multi-year/packaged work for turnkey projects;
• Ensure timely and quality of delivery for project and structural engineering work in support of relevant technical, commercial and regulatory standards – and in alignment with schedules and budgets;
• Handle ongoing communication and highly effective professional relationships with local clients;
• Manage effective stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally;
• Provide sound technical/delivery guidance for the team;
• Mentor, train and develop the careers of junior engineers;
• Partner with internal stakeholders and a collaborative, national team in a multidisciplinary engineering setting.

Experience & Skills

• Bachelor to Masters’ level degree (Civil/Structural Engineering);
• RPEQ qualified or close to completion
• Minimum 8-12 years industry experience in Australia on medium/large commercial building structure projects is essential.
• Eligibility to obtain Australian Defence full security clearance is essential – only eligible to Australian Citizens (Permanent Resident, NZ Citizens & Visa holders are not eligible).
• Exposure across a range of local building sectors, e.g., transport, health, retail, defence;
• Familiar with ETABS, RAM Concept and Microstran
• Solid consultancy experience in a client facing role with ability to lead projects
• Track record of effective cross-discipline project delivery
• Experience coaching & mentoring junior engineers across technical and project delivery aspects.
