Job summary

Cardinia Shire Council in Officer, Victoria, is recruiting a Principal Strategic Planner to lead the development of planning amendments and strategic initiatives, shaping sustainable growth for our diverse community. You'll work across government, industry, and community, mentor junior planners, and guide complex projects with external consultants, in a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in planning or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in strategic land use planning and policy development.
• Project management and strategic report writing exposure.
• Strong stakeholder engagement across government, community, and industry.
• Knowledge of Planning and Environment Act 1987 and Plan for Victoria.
• Experience leading complex planning projects with external consultants.
• Ability to present to executive audiences and navigate high-level decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and preparation of Planning Scheme Amendments.
• Drive strategic planning initiatives and development of growth strategies.
• Provide expert advice and mentor emerging planners.
• Engage with councillors, community groups and agencies to build shared outcomes.
