Job summary

Public Sector People – Australian Capital Territory is seeking a Senior Storage Administrator to own and evolve our central storage environment. You will manage on-premises and cloud storage strategies, drive resilience, and advise senior IT leadership on architecture and risk.

You will lead storage projects, coordinate with vendors, and ensure steady operation of SAN/NAS, backup and DR across platforms such as Dell EMC, NetApp and others. Canberra-based with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

Our client is a high-profile Australian cultural institution responsible for preserving and providing access to nationally significant collections. Its technology environment supports critical digital services, long-term preservation and the ongoing growth of significant information assets.

They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Storage Administratorinto a senior role within Technology Operations.

The role

This is a hands-on technical position with broad ownership of the organisation’s storage environment. You’ll be expected to understand the current platform, keep it running effectively, identify areas for improvement and help define what the future environment should look like.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and improving large-scale enterprise storage infrastructure
• Designing storage architecture, capacity and future-state solutions
• Supporting backup, recovery, replication and disaster recovery environments
• Monitoring performance, utilisation and infrastructure lifecycle
• Contributing to decisions around on-premise infrastructure and cloud storage
• Working with vendors and supporting technology procurement
• Providing senior technical advice to the Director of IT Operations
• Leading storage-related improvement and infrastructure projects

About you

You’ll be an experienced storage or infrastructure specialist who is still comfortable working at the technical level but can also provide broader architectural and strategic input.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• 5+ years’ experience across large-scale enterprise storage environments
• Strong experience with platforms such as Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE, Hitachi or similar
• Experience across SAN, NAS, backup, replication and recovery
• Exposure to Microsoft Cloud / Azure or comparable cloud environments - other platforms also considered
• Strong knowledge of disaster recovery and infrastructure resilience
• The ability to work autonomously and provide clear technical recommendations
• Strong stakeholder and vendor management capability
• Federal Government, Defence or complex enterprise experience would be advantageous

The role is based in Canberraand offers hybrid working flexibility.

A Baseline Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is required.
