Job summary

Alpine Shire Council seeks a skilled statutory planning professional to manage a diverse range of planning applications, mentor other planners, and communicate with the public and stakeholders on planning matters. You will be based in Bright with 40% from home and enjoy a supportive team environment.

Permanent full-time position offering 40-hour weeks, RDOs every four weeks, and a Band 7A salary starting at $100,353 per year plus super and annual leave loading.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in urban planning or related discipline with relevant experience.
• Strong awareness of current trends and issues affecting town planning.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of planning and design principles; ability to apply and solve complex matters.
• Ability to interpret the Planning Scheme, legislation, practice notes and related legislation.
• Willingness to embrace innovative technologies, methods, products and processes for improvement.
• Initiative to perform duties with minimal supervision.
• Ability to plan, organise and manage time to meet targets within a timetable.
• Strong stakeholder management to balance competing priorities for quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide a community-focused service working with other planning staff.
• Support officers with applications and respond to internal and external queries.
• Assess development applications and ensure compliance with Planning Scheme and regulations.
• Advise planning applicants and the community.
