Job summary

QIX Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Solution Architect – Observability to design enterprise-wide observability strategies as part of a major simplification initiative. You will define current- and target-state architectures, establish standards, and drive consolidation of monitoring capabilities across cloud, on-prem and hybrid platforms.

Qualifications

• Enterprise-scale observability architecture design within complex environments.

Senior Solution Architect – Observability

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect – Observability to support the development and execution of an Enterprise Observability Strategy as part of a major Simplify Infrastructure initiative.

This role will focus on designing scalable, enterprise-wide observability solutions, defining current and target-state architectures, establishing architectural standards and driving the simplification and consolidation of existing monitoring capabilities.

The successful candidate will work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Cloud, Application, SRE and Security teams to develop a consistent, scalable and vendor-agnostic observability framework across complex enterprise environments.

This is a strategic architecture-focused opportunity requiring a strong combination of technical expertise, architectural leadership and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and develop enterprise observability architecture, including current-state assessments, target-state designs, architectural principles and technology roadmaps.
• Design scalable monitoring and observability solutions across cloud, hybrid infrastructure, applications and enterprise platforms.
• Establish reusable observability architecture patterns, standards and frameworks to support consistency across the organisation.
• Evaluate existing monitoring platforms and identify opportunities for tool rationalisation, consolidation and simplification.
• Provide architectural guidance for enterprise observability technologies, including Splunk, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry and similar platforms.
• Develop observability approaches covering telemetry collection, logs, metrics, distributed tracing, alerting and service reliability.
• Collaborate with SRE, Infrastructure, Cloud, Security and Application teams to embed observability into technology architecture and engineering practices.
• Support the adoption of cloud-native observability solutions across Kubernetes, containers and modern infrastructure platforms.
• Provide architectural oversight, technical recommendations and governance to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
• Engage with senior technical stakeholders to communicate architectural decisions, technology strategies and transformation roadmaps.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• Enterprise Observability Architecture: Demonstrated experience designing enterprise-scale monitoring and observability architectures within complex technology environments.
• Observability Technologies: Strong architectural knowledge of Splunk, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry or equivalent enterprise observability platforms.
• Infrastructure & Cloud Architecture: Strong understanding of AWS, Azure, hybrid environments, Kubernetes, containers, networks and enterprise infrastructure.
• SRE & Observability Practices: Solid understanding of telemetry, metrics, logs, distributed tracing, alerting, SLI/SLO frameworks and service reliability engineering.
• Architecture Strategy & Roadmaps: Proven ability to assess existing technology capabilities, define target-state architecture and establish architectural principles, standards and transformation roadmaps.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Experience collaborating with Enterprise Architects, Infrastructure Engineers, SRE teams, Security, Application Development and other technical stakeholders.
• Enterprise Architecture Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience across Observability, Monitoring, SRE, Infrastructure and/or Solution Architecture, including demonstrated enterprise-scale architecture design experience.
• Experience with observability platform rationalisation, consolidation and migration strategies.
• Strong understanding of OpenTelemetry architecture, instrumentation and telemetry pipelines.
• Experience designing observability solutions for cloud-native applications, microservices and platform engineering environments.
• Knowledge of AIOps, intelligent event management and AI-assisted IT operations.
• Experience establishing observability governance frameworks, maturity models and architectural controls.
• Understanding of observability platform licensing, consumption optimisation and cost management.
• Experience supporting enterprise-wide infrastructure simplification or technology transformation initiatives.

About You

You are an experienced Solution Architect with a strong background in enterprise monitoring and observability technologies. You bring a strategic mindset and the ability to translate complex technical requirements into scalable architectural solutions.

You understand how observability fits into broader enterprise infrastructure and application architecture, and you can balance technical capability, operational reliability, platform simplification and long-term business objectives.

Importantly, this is an architecture-led position rather than a hands-on observability tool administration role. We are looking for someone who can define enterprise standards, design target-state solutions, drive technology simplification and enable infrastructure and application teams to adopt consistent observability practices.
