Job summary

Energy Safe Victoria is seeking a Senior Solicitor - Regulatory and Corporate to provide high-quality legal advice across regulatory, governance and corporate matters. You will lead complex matters, manage external law firms and brief senior leaders, ensuring compliance and risk management across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Significant in-house, government or private practice experience in regulatory matters.
• Ability to provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to senior leaders.
• Experience leading complex legal matters and projects.
• Experience drafting, negotiating and advising on contracts.
• Ability to manage external legal providers.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and use of technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice across regulatory, governance, corporate matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts and other legal documents, including IP.
• Lead VCAT review proceedings and manage external counsel.
• Engage external firms and counsel, oversee legal expenditure.
• Build relationships with regulators, agencies and advisers.
• Deliver briefs and recommendations to senior leaders across the organisation.
• Support legislative reform and information governance initiatives.
• Mentor and develop junior lawyers within the team.
• Maintain governance records and reporting in line with standards.
