Job summary

Austal in Henderson, WA, is seeking a Senior Software and Systems Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of R&D projects for defence and commercial maritime. The role focuses on Maritime Autonomy, building advanced software and control systems to deliver deployable solutions for customer and market needs.

You will integrate software with digital twins, embedded platforms and vessel systems, and guide concepts through prototyping, testing and deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or Computer Science.
• Experience delivering complex software or automation systems from concept to deployment.
• Experience with Agile project management and risk/schedule control.
• Software architecture and real-time systems integration.
• Full-stack data engineering and analytics.
• Simulation, digital twin, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Interface definition and requirements validation of software systems.
