Job summary

Halcyon Knights Pty Ltd in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve a critical retail POS platform, spanning POS, back-office and store systems.

You will work hands-on with Java, Spring and React, contribute to stability and scalability, and help drive architectural decisions while mentoring engineers.

This role offers ownership, production support, and a path toward technical leadership within a large retail network.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring.
• Frontend development with React.
• Experience with APIs, integrations and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and version control.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing backend services using Java and Spring.
• Building and improving user-facing applications with React.
• Taking ownership of components across POS, back-office and store environments.
• Integrating with ERP systems, payment gateways, loyalty platforms and enterprise applications.
• Supporting reliable transaction processing across distributed systems.
• Investigating production incidents and leading root cause analysis.
• Improving CI/CD pipelines, testing, releases and deployment automation.
• Monitoring performance, reliability and platform capacity.
• Contributing to architecture and technical decision-making.
• Mentoring engineers and collaborating with stakeholders.
