Job summary

Halcyon Knights in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve a business-critical POS platform. You will work across Java, Spring and React, delivering backend services and user-facing features while contributing to architecture and engineering standards.

The role blends hands-on development with complex integrations, problem-solving and leadership, offering progress toward technical leadership in a hybrid permanent setup.

Qualifications

Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring.
Frontend development with React.
Experience with APIs, integrations and distributed systems.
Experience on production-critical platforms.
CI/CD tooling experience (Azure DevOps, Git).

Responsibilities

Design backend services with Java and Spring.
Develop UI with React.
Own components across POS, back-office and store environments.
Integrate with ERP systems, payment gateways, loyalty platforms and enterprise applications.
Support reliable transaction processing across distributed systems.
Lead root cause analysis of production incidents.
Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing, releases and deployment automation.
Monitor performance, reliability and platform capacity.
Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making.
Mentor engineers and collaborate with stakeholders.
