Job summary

Leidos Australia is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to deliver innovative software solutions for large-scale information integration systems. You will participate in the full SDLC, from planning and design to testing and deployment, using Java, JavaScript and API services in a modern DevOps environment.

The role requires expertise in geospatial systems, Agile/Kanban, and integration with open-source technologies, REST/SOAP/messaging, plus JIRA and Confluence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a senior role within an engineering or project environment.
• Experience developing or supporting geospatial systems.
• Strong knowledge of Agile/Kanban methodologies and modern DevOps practices (CI/CD).
• Experience integrating and customizing systems using open-source technologies and REST/SOAP/messaging; familiarity with JIRA/Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to software prototyping, design, development, and engineering approach selection.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineers to analyze, define, and implement requirements.
• Perform software development activities including coding, unit testing, integration, and system testing.
• Customize and integrate tools, and support system release and deployment.
• Ensure software quality by adhering to defined engineering processes and best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in R&D and continuous improvement initiatives.
