Job summary

Spotlight Retail Group is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Engineering in Melbourne to build scalable, secure, cloud-native solutions across a multi-brand digital ecosystem. You will work in a fast-paced hybrid environment at our South Melbourne office.

Responsibilities include delivering full-stack features with Next.js/React frontends, NestJS/Node.js backends, and Java/Spring Boot apps, while emphasizing code quality, automated testing, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in software engineering delivering large-scale digital platforms.
• Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Redux, Tailwind CSS, SSR/SSG, and web performance expertise.
• Backend: Java, Node.js, SQL/NoSQL databases, and AWS-native architecture.

• Build maintainable, cloud-native AWS features using sound design principles.
• Deliver full-stack features across Next.js/React frontends, NestJS/Node.js BFF/backend services, and Java/Spring Boot applications.
• Design and consume event-driven components and APIs (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Maintain code quality, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and clear technical documentation.
• Leverage AI agents and coding assistants to accelerate debugging, refactoring, and delivery.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 8–12 years in software engineering delivering large-scale digital platforms.
• Frontend: Strong TypeScript, React, Next.js, Redux, Tailwind CSS, SSR/SSG, and web performance expertise.
• Backend: Solid expertise in Java, Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, SQL/NoSQL databases, and AWS-native architecture.
• Domain: Hands-on e-commerce experience; headless CMS (Content Stack) or Commerce tools experience is highly desirable.
• Mindset: Agile, adaptable, and comfortable thriving in a high-availability retail environment.
